Let's Make a T-Shirt Bag- just follow these steps!
Grab these items and make a bag you can use ASAP!!
1 old t-shirt (medium or large works best)
A pair of sharp fabric scissors
Washable marker or tape
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Prep the Handles: Lay your t-shirt flat on a table and smooth out any wrinkles. Cut off the two sleeves along their existing seams.
Cut the Neckline: Cut off the shirt's collar to create the opening for your bag. Cut a little deeper into the front collar than the back if you want a distinct front and back handle.
Mark the Base: Flip the t-shirt inside out. Use a marker or tape to draw a straight line across the bottom of the shirt, about 3 to 4 inches from the hem.
Create the Tassel Fringe: Using your scissors, cut vertical slits (about 1/2 to 1 inch wide) from the bottom edge of the shirt up to the line you drew in the previous step. Make sure you cut through both layers of the shirt at the same time so the front and back strips match up.
Tie the Fringe: Take one strip from the front of the shirt and tie it securely in a double knot to the corresponding strip from the back of the shirt. Repeat this process all the way across the bottom.
Secure the Holes: If you notice small gaps between your knots, take one strip from a knot and tie it to a strip from the adjacent knot to close the holes.
Finish: Turn the bag right side out so the knots are hidden on the inside, and your tote is ready to use.
